Basketball Recap: Northeast Academy Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Northeast Academy had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 53-41 to Bethel Assembly Christian Academy on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Camden White, who went 5-for-10 en route to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Lassiter, who posted four points and seven rebounds.

Bethel Assembly Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Peyton Liverman, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 19 points and five steals. Liverman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Evan Byrum was another key player, going 5-for-9 on his way to 13 points and six boards.

Northeast Academy has already played their next matchup, a 55-39 loss against Trinity Christian on the 15th. As for Bethel Assembly Christian Academy, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Mount Calvary Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
