Football Game Preview: Wimberley Texans vs. Smithville Tigers + How To Watch

The Wimberley Texans will face off against the Smithville Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Smithville took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Wimberley, who comes in off a win.

Wimberley is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 38-30 victory over Gonzales on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wimberley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wesley Milam, who rushed for 63 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries. Those 63 rushing yards gave Milam a new career-high. Maverick Jacobs was another key back, rushing for 81 yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Smithville faced off against Navarro on Friday. The Tigers lost 48-27 to the Panthers. The Tigers have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Wimberley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Smithville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything came up roses for Wimberley against Smithville in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 56-0 victory. Will the Texans repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
