Basketball Recap: Williston Skates Past Trinity Catholic with Ease

Williston came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Trinity Catholic Celtics to the tune of 69-38. The Red Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 23 points or more this season.

Taylor Powers had an outrageously good game as she went 9 of 16 en route to 21 points in addition to six assists and five steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelynn Brown, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 12 points.

Powers wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Williston was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Catholic only racked up ten assists.

Trinity Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from Liliana Rosario and Ja'Niya Corbin. Rosario dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Corbin posted 15 points. Rosario has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more boards the last three times she's played.

Williston's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Trinity Catholic, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-6.

Williston didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-50 victory against Providence School on the 18th. As for Trinity Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 39-29 defeat against The First Academy on the 18th.
