Preview: Godby Cougars vs. Suwannee Bulldogs
Godby has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Thursday. They will face off against the Suwannee Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Godby knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Suwannee likes a good challenge.
Godby has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 25 points or more this season. They blew past Leon, posting a 85-47 victory at home.
Godby's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Damien Shepherd led the charge by scoring 12 points. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Butler, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Suwannee had to suffer through a rough 75-48 loss at the hands of Columbia. Suwannee has struggled against Columbia recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Godby's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.7 points per game. As for Suwannee, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Godby and Suwannee were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but Godby came up empty-handed after a 54-53 defeat. Can Godby avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
