Basketball Recap: Rolla Takes a Loss

If Rolla was riding high fresh off their 78-20 takedown of Montgomery County last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rolla Bulldogs fell 46-35 to the Owensville Dutchmen on Wednesday. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Rolla still got an impressive performance from Akaela Caquelin, who shot 4-for-7 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Caquelin's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Mariah Watkins was another key player, putting up six points.

Rolla's defeat dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Owensville, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.

Rolla and Owensville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. Rolla will face off against Camdenton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday up 206 places (30 vs. 236). Rolla is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.4 points per game this season. Similarly, Owensville (ranked 28th) will meet St. Pius X (ranked 233rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
