Baseball Recap: Cotulla Wins Going Away Against Dilley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Crystal City, Cotulla was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Dilley Wolves 12-2. The win continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won three in a row.

Frank Torres made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cotulla is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-9-1 otherwise. Torres was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Eli Renteria and Devin Ramirez did most of the damage at the plate: Renteria went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Ramirez went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Ramirez has posted since back in February of 2024. Eric Aldaco was another key player, earning two runs and four stolen bases.

Cotulla's victory bumped their record up to 5-11-1. As for Dilley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.
