Gonzales will be up against a hot La Vernia team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. La Vernia's defense stepped up to hand John F. Kennedy an 8-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Bears' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Meanwhile, Gonzales waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Rockets 3-0. That's two games straight that the Apaches have won by exactly three goals.

La Vernia pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five games. As for Gonzales, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2-2 record this season.

La Vernia was able to grind out a solid victory over Gonzales in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 2-0. Will La Vernia repeat their success, or does Gonzales have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
