Basketball Preview: NSU University Sharks vs. Westminster Academy Lions
NSU University is 0-3 against the Lions since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The NSU University Sharks' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Westminster Academy Lions on February 7th. Hopefully NSU University focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, a fact NSU University proved. They claimed a resounding 58-23 victory over Chaminade-Madonna on the road. The victory was just what NSU University needed coming off of a 69-36 defeat in their prior matchup.
It was another big night for Tatum Billie, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of NSU University's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Giselle Grant, who scored 22 points along with six assists and two steals.
Westminster Academy proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 42) but on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-46 victory over Doral Academy. The win made it back-to-back wins for Westminster Academy.
NSU University's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-13. As for Westminster Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.
NSU University was taken down by the Lions 62-23 in their previous matchup back in January of 2020. Can NSU University avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
