Softball Recap: Wood-Ridge Triumphs

Wood-Ridge took a 13-run defeat the last time they faced off against Leonia, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blue Devils narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lions 5-3. For the Blue Devils, this counts as revenge for the 14-1 win the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Brielle Rivera and Alexa Celentano did most of the damage at the plate: Rivera went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run, while Celentano went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Celentano has posted over her last 11 contests.

Wood-Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Leonia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wood-Ridge will face off against Lodi at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Leonia, they will square off against Mary Help of Christians Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
