Volleyball Recap: Sturgis Brown Takes a Loss

Sturgis Brown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brandon Valley Lynx. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Scoopers of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-14.

Brandon Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mya VanWesten, who had six digs and three aces. That's the most aces VanWesten has posted over her last nine matchups.

Sturgis Brown's defeat dropped their record down to 7-17. As for Brandon Valley, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Sturgis Brown didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Harrisburg on the 25th. As for Brandon Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Spearfish on the 25th.
