Soccer Game Preview: Uwharrie Charter Academy vs. Providence Grove

Uwharrie Charter Academy has won three straight games at home, while Providence Grove has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Eagles will host the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, Uwharrie Charter Academy made easy work of Asheboro Hybrid Academy and carried off a 4-1 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 4-0.

Kendall Jarrell and Reese Craven scored all four of Uwharrie Charter Academy's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 23 goals.

Meanwhile, Providence Grove kept a clean sheet against Eastern Randolph on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 9-0 victory. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Providence Grove's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Eastern Randolph are ranked 429th).

Uwharrie Charter Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 37 goals over those eight games. As for Providence Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 13-3.

Uwharrie Charter Academy took their win against Providence Grove in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
