Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Curley Friars vs. John Carroll Patriots

For the second straight game, Archbishop Curley will face off against John Carroll. The Friars will head out to challenge the Patriots at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Archbishop Curley managed to slip by John Carroll the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Friars came up short against the Patriots on Monday, falling 13-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Friars couldn't push the score so high this time.

For John Carroll's part, Pierce Quinn tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Quinn has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Joey Coudon was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Braeden Critzer also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

John Carroll's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-6-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Curley, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-8 record.
