Softball Recap: Twentynine Palms Wildcats vs. Indio Rajahs
Twentynine Palms had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 13-7 to make it four. They lost 13-1 to the Indio Rajahs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rajahs this season, with their most recent loss being a 12-2 defeat two weeks ago.
Twentynine Palms saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elysia Villanueva, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
As for Indio, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season. Considering they have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Indio's side, Kaila Wilson looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Wilson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Audra Higgins, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaeda Diaz, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
