Basketball Recap: Providence Drops Highest Score of Season Against North Harrison

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Providence and North Harrison had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Pioneers put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 72-48 victory on Thursday. The Pioneers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Jayda Kempf was her usual excellent self, putting up 26 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Jamila Carrilo, who went 6-for-12 on her way to 12 points along with seven boards and three steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Providence was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, North Harrison still got an impressive performance from Grace Goldman, who shot 50% from the field en route to 25 points and six rebounds. The game was Goldman's sixth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Brown, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points.

Providence now has a winning record of 4-3. As for North Harrison, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Looking ahead, Providence will head out to square off against Austin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Harrison, they will be home for the holidays to greet Salem at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 52.67 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
