Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ryan Turk and Aj Defazio Lead Westlake to Victory

Westlake won the last time they faced Normandy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Westlake Demons strolled past the Normandy Invaders with points to spare, taking the game 71-54. Given the Demons' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while the Invaders are ranked 535th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Westlake to victory were Aj Defazio and Ryan Turk. Defazio posted 11 points along with seven assists and four steals, while Turk went 6 for 10 on his way to 15 points. The dominant performance gave Defazio a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Mateo Medina, who had 12 points.

Westlake's record is now 12-5. As for Normandy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-9 record.

Westlake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 84-60 victory against Valley Forge on the 31st. Normandy has also already played their next game, a 43-35 loss against Lakewood on the 31st.
