Basketball Recap: Herscher Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Tanner Jones and Jacob Mccree

Herscher and Prairie Central squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Herscher had to settle for second. They took a 51-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Prairie Central Hawks. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2015.

Despite the defeat, Herscher had strong showings from Jacob Mccree, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds, and Tanner Jones, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 16 points and seven boards. The dominant performance also gave Mccree a new career-high in steals (four). Austin Buckley was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Herscher has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-19 record this season. Prairie Central's win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-23.

As of now, neither Herscher nor Prairie Central have any future games scheduled.
