Softball Recap: Midland Trail Gets the Win

Midland Trail won the last time they faced James Monroe and things went their way on Friday too. The Patriots came out on top against the Mavericks by a score of 5-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Madison Rader spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Midland Trail's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nevaeh Hall, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Presley Walker was another, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Midland Trail's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for James Monroe, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Midland Trail beat the Mavericks by a score of 11-5 later that day.
