Softball Recap: Whitehall Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Whitehall entered their tilt with Allentown Central Catholic on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 12-1 win. That's more bragging rights for the Zephyrs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Morgan Laub was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Laub was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Whitehall got a big performance out of Alyssa Dunbar, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Dunbar also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season. Nya Brown was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Whitehall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Whitehall's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Allentown Central Catholic, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whitehall will challenge East Stroudsburg North at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Zephyrs are facing the Timberwolves at the right time seeing as the Timberwolves are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Allentown Central Catholic, they will face off against East Stroudsburg South at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
