The Cortland Purple Tigers will head out to take on the Bishop Ludden Gaelic Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Cortland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Cortland will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Watertown on Thursday. The Purple Tigers blew past the Cyclones 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Purple Tigers, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Owen Johnson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cal Albright was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was his first of the season. Connor Browngardt was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bishop Ludden, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Westhill 8-6. The victory was some much needed relief for the Gaelic Knights as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Bishop Ludden's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-5. As for Cortland, their record now sits at 11-2.

Cortland came up short against Bishop Ludden in their previous meeting back in May of 2016, falling 6-2. Can the Purple Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
