Basketball Recap: Northeast Comes Up Short

Northeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Abraham Lincoln Railsplitters. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Railsplitters apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Loss or not, Northeast got some senior leadership from Sharif Wallace and Bobby Perry. Wallace posted 13 points along with five rebounds and four blocks, while Perry went 7 for 17 on his way to 17 points and five assists. Perry's afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tahir Williams, who scored five points.

Abraham Lincoln was led to victory by Miguel Rosa Jr and Jayden Ortiz-Muhammad. Rosa Jr earned 19 points, while Ortiz-Muhammad had 17 points. Those 17 points gave Ortiz-Muhammad a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Barr, who put up nine points.

Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Abraham Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Northeast didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-40 loss against Paul Robeson on the 21st. As for Abraham Lincoln, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 72-60 defeat against Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech on the 21st.
