Basketball Recap: Sacred Heart Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

If Sacred Heart was feeling good fresh off their 44-24 takedown of Southern last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sacred Heart Irish took a 52-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Johnson-Brock Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Irish this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 42-36 two weeks ago.

Taryn Ottemann was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 11 boards for Johnson-Brock. Ottemann continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Buchmeier, who posted 12 points.

Sacred Heart's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-3. As for Johnson-Brock, the victory was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.

Sacred Heart will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Weeping Water on February 13th. As for Johnson-Brock, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-23 win against Southern on the 31st.
