Baseball Game Preview: Union Spartans vs. Rosewood Eagles

Union is 0-10 against Rosewood since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Spartans will host the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Union has given up an average of 18.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Union is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 23rd straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They came up short against Lakewood, falling 25-0.

Meanwhile, Rosewood made easy work of Hobbton on Thursday and carried off a 13-2 victory. Considering the Eagles have won six games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ed Gardner made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jack Adams was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Joseph Lund was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Rosewood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hobbton only posted a batting average of .190.

Rosewood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Union, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
