Basketball Recap: Greene County Tech Extends Winning Streak to Six

Greene County Tech entered their tilt with Brookland on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Brookland Bearcats with a sharp 43-23 victory. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greene County Tech to victory, but perhaps none more so than Weslyn Burnside, who posted 14 points and six boards. That's the most points Burnside has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Myiah Butler, who had six points in addition to 12 rebounds and four blocks.

Greene County Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive games.

Greene County Tech pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.8 points. As for Brookland, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-4.

Greene County Tech wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-39 victory against Buffalo Island Central on the 3rd. As for Brookland, they will challenge Pocahontas at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th.
