Volleyball Recap: Raft River Comes Up Short

After flying high against Richfield on Tuesday, Raft River came back down to earth. The Trojans fell 3-1 to the Hagerman Pirates on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost five in a row.

While Raft River had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-19, 19-25, 25-23.

Hagerman was led to victory by Alexis Beutler and Addi Chizum. Beutler had nine digs and three aces, while Chizum had 26 digs and ten assists. Chizum is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 11 games she's played.

Raft River's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Hagerman, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Raft River will square off against Lighthouse Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hagerman, they will take on Rockland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
