Basketball Game Preview: King's Christian Academy Eagles vs. Calverton

King's Christian Academy has gone 8-2 against Calverton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The King's Christian Academy Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against Calverton at 1:00 p.m. The timing is sure in King's Christian Academy's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Calverton has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

King's Christian Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Friendship Collegiate Academy by a score of 64-57 on Monday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 137th in Maryland, while the Knights are ranked tenth in District of Columbia).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead King's Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaylee Raley, who went 8-for-15 on her way to 25 points. What's more, Raley also posted a 53% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January of 2024. Alexa Buckley was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks.

King's Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Calverton came up short against Southern Maryland Christian Academy on Friday, falling 64-38.

Calverton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for King's Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.
