Football Recap: Timpanogos Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Timpanogos can now relate to. They came up short against the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs on Friday, falling 48-27. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah football rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 12th).

When it comes to explaining why Timpanogos lost, don't look at Kyle Lapray. Despite the final result, he picked up 164 receiving yards and one touchdown. Tevita Mounga was in the mix too, providing the Timberwolves with two scores.

Timpanogos didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Noah Torgersen. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one defended passe the last three times he's played. Jesse King was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making six total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Van Dailey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Crimson Cliffs, rushing for 245 yards and three TDs while picking up 13.6 yards per carry. Those 245 rushing yards gave Dailey a new career-high. Kade Shaw also helped out as he racked up 106 rushing yards.

Timpanogos dropped their record down to 5-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Crimson Cliffs, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Timpanogos does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Crimson Cliffs, they will take on Stansbury at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Stallions have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
