Preview: Vista Ridge Rangers vs. Vandegrift Vipers
Vista Ridge is 2-8 against Vandegrift since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Vista Ridge Rangers will be playing at home against the Vandegrift Vipers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Vista Ridge never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Manor last Friday. They were the clear victor by a 36-16 margin over the Mustangs. Given Vista Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Manor is ranked 319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grant Anderson was a one-man wrecking crew for Vista Ridge as he rushed for 139 yards and four touchdowns, and also threw for 126 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Vandegrift put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cedar Ridge 58-0 at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Vandegrift just coasted through the last quarter.
Vandegrift's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Deuce Adams led the charge by throwing for 111 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.3% of his passes. Miles Coleman was another key contributor, picking up 42 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Vista Ridge's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Vandegrift, their victory was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0.
Vista Ridge was dealt a bruising 34-0 loss at the hands of Vandegrift in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Vista Ridge have more luck at home instead of on the road?
