Baseball Recap: Hartfield Academy Makes It 12 in a Row on the Road

Hartfield Academy faced Presbyterian Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Hawks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bobcats a 3-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

The result came thanks to Taylor Latham's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hartfield Academy's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was JP Abt, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Abt has posted since back in March.

Hartfield Academy pushed their record up to 25-4 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Presbyterian Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 17-13.

Hartfield Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
