Basketball Game Preview: John Paul II Centurions vs. Holy Cross Knights

John Paul II is 1-6 against Holy Cross since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The John Paul II Centurions will be playing at home against the Holy Cross Knights at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

The Centurions are headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 75-59 to the Guardians. Even if the Centurions couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Meanwhile, Holy Cross was able to grind out a solid win over New Braunfels Christian Academy on Friday, taking the game 60-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

The Centurions' loss dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Holy Cross, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.

John Paul II took a serious blow against Holy Cross when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 77-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Holy Cross' Aaron Garcia, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 12 boards.
