Northwestern Regional scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 70-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shepaug Valley Spartans. The defeat leaves the Highlanders without a win on the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shepaug Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than James Kersten, who went 10 for 19 on his way to 25 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Drew Konik, who went 6 of 12 en route to 19 points along with eight assists and seven boards.

Northwestern Regional's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Shepaug Valley, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwestern Regional will venture away from home to square off against Nonnewaug at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Shepaug Valley, they will head out to take on Housatonic-Lakeview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
