The University Hawks will venture away from home to square off against the Morgantown Mohigans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. University has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
University's last matchup with The Linsly School could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Wednesday. The Hawks came up short against the Cadets, falling 14-8. The Hawks' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Curtis Quarrick was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Colson Jenkins also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
The home team had come away the winner the last three times Morgantown and John Marshall had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Mohigans narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Monarchs 3-1.
Vincent Aloi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits.
On the hitting side, Morgantown saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Nipper, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Weston Mazey, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Morgantown now has a winning record of 4-3. As for University, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. University has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Morgantown struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
University couldn't quite get it done against Morgantown in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
