Softball Recap: Nicholas County Comes Up Short

Nicholas County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Model Patriots. The Bluejackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Sidney Sexton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Isabella Ramey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Nicholas County's record now sits at 4-17. As for Model, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Nicholas County will square off against Mason County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Model, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Jackson County at 6:00 p.m.
