Basketball Recap: Fontainebleau Comes Up Short

Fontainebleau lost against Slidell two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Fontainebleau Bulldogs took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Slidell Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Tigers are ranked 19th).

Despite the loss, Fontainebleau still got an impressive performance from Leila Neal, who went 5 for 8 en route to 10 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Neal is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games she's played. Trinity Crockett was another key player, putting up six points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Fontainebleau was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Fontainebleau's loss dropped their record down to 13-18. As for Slidell, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

Coming up, Fontainebleau will welcome Salmen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Slidell, they will venture away from home to square off against Mandeville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mandeville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season.
