Baseball Game Preview: D'Iberville Warriors vs. Stone Tomcats

D'Iberville is 0-3 against Stone since March of 2022 but things could change on Saturday. The D'Iberville Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Stone Tomcats at 1:00 p.m. D'Iberville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

D'Iberville is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against St. Stanislaus on Friday. D'Iberville walked away with a 7-3 victory over St. Stanislaus.

Caleb West was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that he's hit this season.

In other pitching news, Corbin Smith looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024.

Back at the plate, Jaylen Johnson was incredible, scoring two runs while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (four). Another player making a difference was Carter Naron, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

D'Iberville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Stanislaus onlymanaged four hits.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stone). They put the hurt on Resurrection Catholic with a sharp 11-1 win on Tuesday.

D'Iberville's victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Stone, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
