Baseball Recap: Caston Has No Trouble Against Triton

Caston had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Triton on Friday. The Comets put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 14-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won four in a row.

Logan Mollenkopf made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Mollenkopf was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Caston let Gavin Mollenkopf and Noah Herd run wild. Mollenkopf scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Herd went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave Herd a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Woolever, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Caston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Triton only managed six hits.

Caston now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Triton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Caston will be playing at home against LaVille at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Comets will need to watch out since the Lancers have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Triton, they will host North Judson-San Pierre at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
