Baseball Recap: Churubusco Wins Going Away Against South Adams

Churubusco hadn't beaten South Adams on the road since May 28, 2015 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Eagles blew past the Starfires 15-8. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 5-0 win the Starfires walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Churubusco let Brady Knott and Drake Richards run wild. Knott went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base, while Richards went 2-for-5 with three runs and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Richards a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Lawrence, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Churubusco and bumps their season record up to 5-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for South Adams, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13.

Churubusco wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 13-0 loss against Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian on the 10th. As for South Adams, they will be playing at home against Woodlan at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
