Volleyball Recap: Meridian Mustangs vs. Shelby-Rising City Huskies
Meridian was the 2-0 winner over Shelby-Rising City when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Huskies 25-17 in the first set.
Meridian started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-18, 25-18.
Jaycee Schwisow paced Meridian's offense, picking up ten kills. Schwisow got some help from Olivia Schafer and her 15 assists. Schafer was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.
Meridian has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Shelby-Rising City, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-8.
