Softball Recap: Atlantic City Vikings vs. Bridgeton Bulldogs
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Atlantic City). They put the hurt on the Bridgeton Bulldogs with a sharp 19-2 victory on Wednesday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Kayla Barrie made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nelly Sosa, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Mia Marota was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
