Baseball Recap: Lake Weir Drops Highest Score of Season Against Interlachen

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Weir). They put the hurt on the Interlachen Rams with a sharp 11-4 win on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hurricanes considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Lyric Hartley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Chapter Jones was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 4-for-4. He has become a key player for Lake Weir: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyler Courtney, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Lake Weir's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Interlachen, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Lake Weir has already played their next game, a 9-3 win against West Port on the 11th. As for Interlachen, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Middleburg on the 7th.
