Volleyball Recap: Austin Prep Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Austin Prep duked it out with Thayer Academy on Friday. The Cougars took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Austin Prep started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 26-24, 25-17, 25-20.

Despite the loss, Austin Prep saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Abbie Quill had 22 digs and four aces.

Austin Prep now has a losing record of 1-2.

Austin Prep has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Deerfield Academy on the 13th. As for Thayer Academy, they will challenge Governor's Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
