Basketball Recap: Ellianna Clark's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lanier Christian Academy over Drew Charter

After flying high against Pinecrest Academy on Friday, Lanier Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Lightning fell just short of Drew Charter by a score of 46-43 on Saturday.

Lanier Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ellianna Clark, who shot 42% from the field en route to 10 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Sydney Harmon was another key player, putting up seven points.

Drew Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anaysa Glover, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 16 boards. Glover is becoming a predictor of Drew Charter's success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 5-2 (and 1-2 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jayce Newman, who posted 11 points and five steals.

Lanier Christian Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4. As for Drew Charter, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lanier Christian Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Johnson Ferry Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Drew Charter, they will host Atlanta International at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
