Football Game Preview: Stratford Elks vs. Gruver Greyhounds

Stratford is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gruver Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m.

Gruver is facing Stratford at the wrong time: Stratford suffered their first home loss of the season on Friday and they're likely out for redemption. They took a 41-26 bruising from the Bobcats.

Despite the defeat, Stratford had strong showings from Darius Jones, who picked up 205 receiving yards and two TDs, and Chase Lantelme, who threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. Jones' longest reception was for an incredible 77 yards.

Meanwhile, Gruver entered their tilt with River Road on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 54-6 win over the Wildcats. The Greyhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 21 points or more this season.

Gruver's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Stratford, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Stratford came up short against Gruver in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 33-26. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Greyhounds' Briggs Satterfield, who rushed for 75 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 220 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 17 passes. Now that the Elks know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
