Softball Recap: Meridian Trojans vs. Tenino Beavers
Meridian extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-8. They came up short against the Tenino Beavers, falling 21-5. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Beavers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Chloe Heinrich made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Neil, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
As for Tenino, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Tenino's side, Kylie Gonia was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Gonia continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tamara Snodderly, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
Coming up, Meridian will challenge Blaine at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Borderites have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.33 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tenino, they have already played their next contest, a 9-5 loss against Riverside on the 18th.
