Wheatmore hadn't done well against Uwharrie Charter Academy recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wheatmore Warriors strolled past the Uwharrie Charter Academy Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 63-46. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Eagles back in January, they had to take a 69-45 loss.

Wheatmore had a senior duo take command as Parker Kines went 10-for-15 on his way to 25 points and five boards and Wyatt Stepp went 6-for-11 en route to 22 points. Thanks to that strong game, Stepp now owns an excellent 45.4% shooting accuracy. Caleb Coggins was another key player, putting up two points and seven rebounds.

Wheatmore was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Uwharrie Charter Academy only racked up eight assists.

Despite the defeat, Uwharrie Charter Academy had strong showings from Braeden Lamb, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 20 points, and Aaron Smith, who went 6-for-11 en route to 19 points and five boards. The contest was Smith's third in a row with at least 15 points.

Wheatmore's record now sits at 10-14. As for Uwharrie Charter Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 17-8 record this season.

Looking ahead, Wheatmore will take on Providence Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Providence Grove's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games. Uwharrie Charter Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
