Softball Recap: Anderson County Bulldogs vs. Wellsville Eagles

Anderson County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They lost 8-2 to the Wellsville Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 on Tuesday.

As for Wellsville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

For Wellsville's part, Tatum Courter was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Courter's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Wood, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anderson County will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Santa Fe Trail at 4:30 p.m. on May 8. As for Wellsville, they will welcome Eudora at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
