Basketball Recap: Walsh Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kayla Penick and Ava Alley

If Walsh was feeling good fresh off their 42-19 takedown of Rolla on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Walsh Eagles took a 36-22 bruising from the Kit Carson Wildcats on Saturday. The Eagles have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Walsh had strong showings from Ava Alley, who posted three points and eight rebounds, and Kayla Penick, who earned seven points. Those eight boards gave Alley a new career-high.

Leading Kit Carson to victory were Avery Johnson and Shay Rady. Johnson had 20 points along with six boards and five steals, while Rady almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

Walsh's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Walsh didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-33 victory against Yarbrough on the 9th. As for Kit Carson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 48-37 win against Weldon Valley on the 12th.
