Basketball Recap: Oakwood Academy Comes Up Short

If Oakwood Academy was riding high fresh off their 66-16 takedown of Georgia-Cumberland Academy last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Oakwood Academy Mustangs had to suffer through a 61-31 loss at the hands of the Ider Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while the Hornets are ranked 37th).

Loss or not, Oakwood Academy got some senior leadership from Charity Jarman and Mya Awoniyi. Jarman posted 15 points, while Awoniyi scored five points. Jarman is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played.

Oakwood Academy's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-8. As for Ider, they pushed their record up to 22-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home.

Oakwood Academy will take on Valley Head at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ider, they will face off against Pisgah at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
