Recap: School of the Woods Wildcats vs. Humble Christian Cougars
The School of the Woods Wildcats struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the Humble Christian Cougars had 15 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. School of the Woods took a 33-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. School of the Woods has not had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why School of the Woods lost, one person who can't be blamed is Savannah Phan. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with two steals. That was a full 48.3% of School of the Woods' points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Humble Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kelly Paulk, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Paulk is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly McMullen, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
School of the Woods has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Humble Christian, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. School of the Woods will face off against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Humble Christian, they will head out on the road to take on the Saints at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Faith Christian is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
