Softball Recap: Scott Takes a Loss

Scott had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-7 to make it seven. They came up short against the Cimarron Bluejays, falling 18-12. The Beavers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bluejays apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Piper Fox made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Felker, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

As for Cimarron, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Cimarron's side, Quinn Campbell made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and nine unearned) runs off 13 hits. Campbell was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Ashlynn Randa was incredible, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Abby Becker was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cimarron beat Scott by a score of 12-2 later that day.
