Baseball Recap: Mansfield Christian Takes a Loss

Mansfield Christian extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-16 in the process. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bucyrus Redmen. If the Flames were looking for revenge after losing 14-8 to the Redmen when the teams met back in May of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Bucyrus' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-19. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Bucyrus' part, the team relied heavily on Lincoln Blizzard, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Blizzard a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of London Wade, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Looking ahead, Mansfield Christian will be playing at home against Oberlin at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Phoenix have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.95 runs per game on average), something the Flames will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bucyrus, they will take on Crestview in a tournament on Friday.
